4th of July Weekend in Roatan

So our one regret about our trip was that we were away from our beloved country over the 4th of July.  This is Dustin and Stephanie's 2nd favorite holiday, and so we celebrated with some of our new "Gringo" friends who were visiting next door from New Jersey.

We had to have fire in there somehow, so we had a bonfire on the beach and cooked hot dogs.

Ellie performed for all of us with an impromptu solo on the guitar.  She was awesome!  So glad one of our kids decided to learn the guitar.

We didn't have a fireworks show to go to, and there weren't any fireworks to buy, so we had to do the next best thing...watch a fireworks show on the internet!  This was cool, because it was recorded from a drone in the sky, and so the fireworks were exploding right in front of you.  We felt like we were in the middle of it!

Then Ellie wanted to try to light her own....

We had a great weekend watching all the different World Cup soccer games in any one of the bars or restaurants we passed.  It was playing everywhere!  Dustin got a little too into it and embarrassed all the rest of us with his..."emotion" I believe is what he called it.

It was SO great to have Dustin's cousin Karie and Todd visiting us for the week.  They are some of our favorite people to hang with.

Then we were invited to the Branch President's house to have dinner with him and his wife Norma.  We had THE most delicious baleadas, and she even taught us how to cook them.  Ellie made her very own flour baleada from scratch.  MMMM....delish.

This is our very last Sunday on Roatan.  We had very mixed feelings about leaving.  We missed our family and friends at home, but we had such a wonderful experience here, we did not want to leave either.  These are some of our friends and missionaries that we will miss so much.

You may think this is all Karie and Todd did while they were here, but they were our angels in disguise helping us get everything cleaned and ready for our trip home.....

We love you guys!!

More Misc. Service

Stephanie has been busy painting a few donation boxes for our local library.  They will put these around the island in places like cruise ship areas and restaurants for tourists to donate much needed money for books and for running the bookmobile.

Pretty silly, but she had a fun time doing them.  And they turned out great!

A few more pictures of going to the orphanage with the House family.
We had such a good time hanging out that week with this family we met at church.
